    What the service involves

How Our Technicians Clean a Mattress

A mattress absorbs roughly half a litre of moisture a night in the form of sweat, along with skin cells, body oils and whatever comes off the sheets. None of that stays on the surface. It works down into the quilting and the top layers of foam, where it becomes both the food supply for dust mites and the reason an older mattress smells faintly sour when you strip it. Washing the sheets deals with the sheets. It does nothing about the layer underneath them, and the dust mite colony living there is a genuine health hazard rather than a housekeeping detail — for an asthmatic it is the single largest allergen source in the house.

The method is chosen from what the mattress is made of, and knowing which is which is most of the expertise in this trade. Sprung and quilted mattresses take hot water extraction, which is what actually removes contamination rather than moving it around: the surface is HEPA-vacuumed first, marks and odour areas are treated individually, then the mattress is cleaned and the moisture drawn straight back out under vacuum. Memory foam and latex are a different case, because saturating open-cell foam is the one thing you must not do, so those get a low-moisture method with controlled dwell time instead.

The parts people do not expect are the sides, the seams and the base. Piping and side panels hold more skin and oil than the top face, dust mites concentrate in the seams because that is where the debris collects, and the underside is often the mouldy one on a bed with a solid base and no airflow. All of it gets done by an experienced technician, and we finish with a sanitising pass and enough air movement that you can make the bed up the same evening. Book a morning slot and the bedroom is normal by bedtime.

Strip the bed before we arrive and wash the bedding the same day. Cleaning the mattress and then remaking it with the sheets that were on it puts a good part of the problem straight back. Ask us on the call and we will talk you through the rest of the prep.

    Why it is worth doing

    The Results You Will See

The proven results people notice after a professional mattress clean, starting with the reason most of them called.

    03 9969 3156
    01

    Allergy symptoms settle down overnight

Dust mite droppings are the actual allergen, and a mattress is where the largest concentration in the house lives. Extraction removes the colony and the debris it feeds on rather than stirring it into the air. Households with asthma or hay fever usually report the difference within the first week. Mention the allergies when you book and our technicians will run the deeper allergen pass.

    02

The bed stops smelling like anything

Sour, musty or sweet-stale odour from a mattress is bacteria feeding on absorbed sweat and body oil. Sprays and baking soda sit on top of that and fade in days. Removing the contamination itself is what makes effective deodorising last rather than fade. Ask for the odour treatment when you book and we will quote it with the clean.

    03

    Yellowing and sweat marks lift

The dark patches that appear where shoulders and hips sit are oxidised body oil in the quilting. Most of it comes out, and older marks lighten considerably. A mattress you are not embarrassed to strip in front of a guest is worth more than it sounds. Send a photo of the marks and an experienced technician will tell you honestly what will shift.

    04

Accidents no longer come back in the heat

Urine that has soaked through the quilting reactivates and smells again on every warm, humid night, which is why it seems to return from nowhere. Treated properly at the depth it reached, it stops doing that. Tell us how old the accident is and where it is and we will price it in.

    05

The mattress lasts closer to its rated life

Absorbed moisture and salts break down foam and quilting over time, and a mattress that has never been cleaned softens and sags earlier than one that has. Given what a replacement costs, an affordable clean every year is cheap insurance. Put yourself on a yearly reminder when you book.

    06

    The room feels aired out

A bedroom takes its air quality from the largest soft surface in it. People consistently describe the room as fresher rather than describing the mattress, which is a fair sign that the mattress was what the room smelled like. Book the beds together and the whole floor of the house changes at once.

    Why choose us

Why Choose Us For Mattress Cleaning in Melbourne

You breathe against this surface for a third of every day, so it is worth being fussy about who treats it and how. Here is what our reputation is built on, and how to get started.

One rate across the metro area

The rate is the rate wherever you are on the map. No travel fee, no zone loading, and no surcharge for a suburb we decided was a long drive. Upfront pricing with no hidden charges, quoted before we start.

Back in use the same night

Extraction with real recovery plus air movers means the mattress is dry enough to make up the same evening. No sleeping on the couch, and no second visit — which is what years of experience on beds this size buys you.

    Products chosen for a bed

Low-residue and low-odour, because you will have your face against it tonight. No heavy perfume left behind to mask anything. Ask for the product details when you book and we will send them through.

    Foam is never saturated

Memory foam and latex get a specialised low-moisture method. Soaking open-cell foam is how a mattress ends up mouldy on the inside where you cannot see it, and mould in a bed is a health hazard you will never spot until it is too late.

    HEPA vacuum and hot extraction

A HEPA pass first so the debris is captured rather than blown around the bedroom, then extraction that pulls contamination out under vacuum. Our technicians arrive with both on board rather than picking one.

We tell you when it is past cleaning

Trustworthiness in this trade is mostly the willingness to say no. A mattress with mould through the core or contamination all the way to the base needs replacing, and we will say so rather than take the booking.

    The routine

    Our Cleaning Steps

The same four steps on every mattress, in the same order, run the same way by every technician we send, so you can see exactly what you are paying for.

    1

    1. Inspect and identify

Our technicians check the construction, look for existing water marks and mould, find the accident and odour areas with the naked eye and by smell, and test an out-of-sight section for colour-fastness. The upfront price is agreed before anything starts.

    • Check construction
    • Locate odour areas
    • Test for colour-fastness
    • Agree the upfront price
    2

    2. Strip and HEPA vacuum

The mattress is vacuumed with a HEPA machine across the top, the sides, the piping and the seams, so the loose skin, dust and mite debris is captured rather than pushed into the air of the bedroom you are about to sleep in.

    • HEPA vacuum the surface
    • Seams and piping
    • Sides and base
    • Pre-treat the marks
    3

    3. Clean and sanitise

Hot water extraction for sprung and quilted mattresses, low-moisture for memory foam and latex. Stains and accident areas are worked individually first, then the whole surface is cleaned and given a sanitising pass.

    • Extraction or low-moisture
    • Spot treat accidents
    • Sanitising pass
    • Both faces where accessible
    4

    4. Dry, deodorise and check

Air movers run over the mattress until it is dry to the touch, odour treatment is applied where it was needed rather than everywhere by default, and we walk you around the bed before we pack up. Nothing is loaded until you are happy.

    • Air-dry with movers
    • Deodorise where needed
    • Groom the surface
    • Walk through together
    Everything covered

Mattress Jobs Our Specialists Take On

Four situations that cover most of what our technicians are called out for, and how each one is handled. Find yours below, then send a photo for a firm price.

01 · Dust mites and allergens Dust mite and allergen treatment

    Dust mite and allergen treatment

The most common reason for the call, and usually the most rewarding. Mites live on shed skin and concentrate in the quilting and seams, and it is their droppings rather than the mites themselves that trigger symptoms. A HEPA pass followed by extraction removes both the colony and its food supply, which is the only effective answer to the biggest allergen source in the house. Tell us who in the household is affected when you book.

    • HEPA vacuum so debris is captured, not airborne
    • Seams and piping done, where mites concentrate
    • Sanitising pass across the full surface
    • Bed base and headboard treated on request
02 · Sweat and yellowing Sweat, body oil and yellowing

    Sweat, body oil and yellowing

The dark patches at shoulder and hip height are absorbed body oil that has oxidised in the quilting, and the sour smell that goes with them is bacteria feeding on it. Both need removing rather than masking, which is a professional cleaning job rather than a spray. Send a photo and we will tell you how much will lift.

    • Oxidised oil marks lifted out of the quilting
    • Sour and musty odour removed at the source
    • Older marks lightened considerably where they will not fully clear
    • Sides and piping cleaned as well as the sleeping surface
03 · Urine and accidents Urine and accident treatment

    Urine and accident treatment

Toilet training, illness and pets on the bed all end up here. Urine soaks well past the surface and crystallises, then reactivates and smells again on every humid night. It has to be treated at the depth it reached, which is why surface cleaning always seems to work for about a week. Tell us how many accidents and roughly when, and we will price the depth treatment in.

    • Treated to the depth the liquid actually reached
    • Odour salts broken down rather than perfumed over
    • Repeat accidents in the same spot dealt with together
    • Honest assessment when it has reached the core
04 · Foam and pillow-top Pillow-top, memory foam and latex

    Pillow-top, memory foam and latex

These are the mattresses most easily ruined by the wrong method. Open-cell foam holds water and dries from the outside in, so a saturated memory foam mattress can be growing mould in its core long before anything shows. They get a controlled low-moisture clean from a technician who knows the difference instead. Tell us the make and model if you have it and we will confirm the method before the day.

    • Low-moisture method, no saturation of the foam
    • Pillow-top quilting cleaned without flattening the loft
    • Latex and hybrid constructions handled to the same rule
    • Extended air-drying so nothing is left damp inside

    Melbourne

    VIC · 7 days

Mattress work happens in the bedroom, so it is a house visit rather than a pick-up, and it is often booked alongside carpets in the same rooms because the two share the setting-up. This is a well-known local name rather than a call centre with subcontractors: the experienced crew that quotes the job is the crew that does it, the rate does not change with the postcode, and travel is not billed on top. Multiple beds in one visit cost less per mattress than booking them separately.

    Common questions

    Mattress Cleaning Questions

It is priced per mattress on size and condition. A queen with general soiling and a queen with several old accident areas are not the same amount of work, so condition matters as much as size does.

Doing every bed in the house in one visit costs less per mattress than booking them one at a time, because the setting up only happens once. Whatever we agree once we have seen the beds is what appears on the invoice — affordable pricing with no hidden fees, no travel charge and no weekend loading.

Around 45 minutes to an hour and a half per mattress depending on size and how much spot work is needed. Several beds in one visit go faster per bed.

You can make the bed up the same evening. Extraction pulls most of the moisture straight back out and our technicians run air movers to finish the job, so the mattress is dry to the touch before we leave. Give it a couple of extra hours with the sheets off if the day is cold and damp.

Very little, and the crew will share the knowledge on the booking call. Strip the bed completely, including the mattress protector, and wash all of it the same day. Clear enough space to walk around all four sides, and take anything fragile off the bedside tables.

Leave the mattress on the base. We do not need it stood up, and mattresses are easier to damage moving them than cleaning them.

Yes. We choose products for a surface you breathe against for eight hours a night: low-residue, low-odour, and nothing heavily perfumed. Heat and extraction do most of the actual work.

In allergy households we keep the treatment as plain as the job allows and rely on the HEPA pass and the extraction, which is what reduces the allergen load anyway. Tell us on the call and we will plan it that way.

The smell, in almost every case. Urine crystallises in the fibres and reactivates whenever it gets warm and humid, and treating it at the depth it reached is what stops that cycle. That is the part that actually matters day to day.

The visible mark is less certain. Fresh accidents usually clear. Old ones that have oxidised into the quilting lighten but can leave a shadow. If it has soaked through to the core of the mattress, no cleaning method will reach it, and an honest technician will tell you that rather than take your money.

Both. Ordinary bookings run 6:00 AM to 11:00 PM seven days, and same-day booking availability is genuine rather than a slogan — there are held slots most weeks, so ring in the morning rather than assuming next week.

For a burst pipe, a flooded bedroom or a large fresh accident on a good mattress, there is a 24/7 emergency service line, and on emergency calls we aim to have a technician onsite in 60 minutes. With a soaked mattress the hours between the water and the extraction decide whether the foam is saved, so it is worth ringing straight away rather than waiting for morning.

Every 12 months for most households, and every 6 months where someone has asthma or hay fever, where a pet sleeps on the bed, or where there are young children still having accidents.

Between cleans, a monthly vacuum of the surface and seams, a washable protector changed with the sheets, and pulling the covers back for half an hour each morning before making the bed all help. That last one costs nothing and does more than most people expect, because it lets the night moisture out instead of sealing it in.
